César Franck: Sonata in A Major & Claude Debussy: Early Songs
This program features early songs of Claude Debussy. He was just 18 years old when he began composing these beautiful lyrical melodies. They reflect the French Romantic style of his young manhood and were influenced by the music of Massenet and Gounod and by the poetry of Mallarme, Baudelaire and Verlaine and of course, the passion, melancholy, thrill and despair of Love.
César Franck’s masterpiece Sonata in A Major completes the French evening.
