GrooveNGuitars

Help GrooveNGuitars strum on for a 3rd year!

Middle school and high school students at the Youth Empowerment Center in Rutherford County began learning guitar this past fall, thanks to to the continued support of the D’Addario Foundation and generous donors.  We have a waiting list of elementary age students and need additional financial support to serve these children with quality music instruction through GrooveNGuitars. Can you help us? Donate to the GrooveNGuitars online campaign through February 15th!

Donate to GrooveNGuitars safely and securely through our online Power2Give campaign, sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council.  Help us reach our goal of $2500 by February 15th! Your tax-deductible donation will help pay for music instruction, performances by guest musicians with the students, music instruction books, and much-needed repairs to our well-used guitars!

The D’Addario Foundation grant only covers a portion of the costs of this special program. It costs just $200 to sponsor one child for the entire school year. We need your support!

These kids receive free weekly guitar lessons, along with performances and workshops with professional musicians. Pan Harmonia Education Coordinator and guitarist Amy Brucksch has designed a captivating program in which students learn to read music as well as concepts of melody, harmony, rhythm, and accompaniment. They also learn life skills about teamwork, discipline and critical thinking.

Youth Empowerment Center guitarists performing after only 8 weeks of lessons!

Please consider a tax-deductible donation in any amount to help us give the gift of music and creative expression to children who would otherwise not have that chance! If you aren’t comfortable donating online, you may mail your check to Pan Harmonia, PO Box 18342, Asheville NC 28814.

From a student: “I love GrooveNGuitars because we learned to play guitars and read notes. I liked how it was fun to play.”

From parent: “She loved picking up her guitar at home and playing it with her father. She didn’t watch nearly as much TV.”

From school staff: “It was amazing what the kids learned.”

Angel King, Spindale Elementary principal, said, ” I have been amazed at how quickly the students have learned to play the guitar. Their excitement when playing can clearly be seen on their faces! I believe this opportunity has created an appreciation for music that could last a lifetime.”

Learning and exploring!
